PVB interlayer is a special semi‑transparent polymer material, produced by plasticizing polyvinyl butyral resin with plasticizers and then extruding it into shape. Its main characteristics and relevant information are as follows:
Material composition: The PVB interlayer is primarily composed of PVB resin, which is produced by the reaction of polyvinyl alcohol and butyraldehyde under strong acid catalysis. It exhibits non-toxicity, odorlessness, non-corrosiveness, and low flammability.
Appearance characteristics: The PVB interlayer exhibits a clean, uniform appearance, with a smooth surface that possesses moderate roughness and excellent flexibility.
Key properties: It is transparent, heat‑resistant, cold‑resistant, and moisture‑resistant, while also exhibiting excellent mechanical strength, making it an ideal adhesive for manufacturing laminated and safety glass.
Chemical Properties: The PVB interlayer exhibits excellent resistance to chemicals, alkalis, and oils, as well as outstanding low-temperature impact resistance. It also demonstrates strong adhesion to glass, metals, ceramics, plastics, leather, and wood.
